The BowelCare Program promotes public awareness of bowel cancer and the sale of affordable test kits which can assist in the detection of bowel cancer or
pre-cancerous conditions.
In its 30 years of operation, close to 500,000 kits have been sold and over 2,300 cases of bowel cancer and polyps have been detected.
The program has grown such that usually over 45,000 kits will be distributed annually by Rotary clubs across Greater Metropolitan Sydney, Blue Mountains, Central Coast, South East New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory.

The Shirley Shuttle is a service offered in collaboration between Community Transport, Cancer Council of NSW and the Central Coast Local Health District. The service is overseen by the Transport Action Group which includes the organisations above as well as Transport NSW, Cancer Voices and other service providers. It began with the generous donation of a vehicle by Barb Galvin in memory of her mother, Shirley and provides access to oncology treatment for cancer sufferers who have transport difficulties.
CancerCare Australia has provided a fourth car to this program and contributes to its running costs.
CancerCare Australia is proud to support Cancer Council of NSW by funding the sale of the candles at the Candles for Carols by Candlelight to the amount of $4,000.
